As the web and bandwidth have multiplied, learning Spanish online has advanced to new levels. My first experience learning a language outside of a formal school setting was with Foreign Service Institute (FSI) tapes ordered by mail in the 80s. After that, I discovered Pimsleur which was a big step ahead. FSI had more tapes, more lessons, and more grammar, but it required the book and was hard to learn in the car. Pimsleur is more of a “book-less” system, perfect for learning in the car.

Hebrew continues to adapt year after year to provide new words and nuances that are needed by a modern society. Over 10,000 words have been added in the last 35 years. Learning to speak Italian or any language is a great way to improve yourself. The knowledge that you will gain will not only be relevant to Italian but will cross over to your understanding of your own language and your general knowledge as a whole. For example, your English grammar will improve which could improve your ability to write better prose or even give presentations.

Perhaps the most well-known Jewish prayer is the “Shema”. This prayer is recited twice per day (morning and evening). The prayer is translated as “Hear Israel”, and refers to the entire verse “Hear O Israel, the Lord Thy God, the Lord is One.”

That’s the million dollar question when it comes to learning a new language, unfortunately the answer is not that straightforward. In fact you could say it depends. Let me explain a bit more. We have to say that the best way to learn Spanish is the one that you will actually be able to do. Your program should dovetail with your lifestyle. It should fit into your schedule. Furthermore, the teaching method should be one that truly helps you. Lots of people prefer learning Spanish in a the classroom. Still others do better with an at home program.

Learning French as an adult isn’t the same as learning it as a child, or even taking high school French classes. That’s because, over time, the way we learn tends to change a little. Most adults learn a language by comparing it to the language they already speak. This is in contrast to the “sponge” method that children use - they just soak up a language.
